About the Event:

BJ is native of Longmeadow, MA. On July 28th, 2005, BJ was 21, and on the way home from a summer job. The driver was driving west on the MassPike and towing construction gear when he lost control of the truck.  When the driver lost control BJ was ejected from the truck through the passenger door.

When BJ awoke in the hospital he soon learned about his injuries.  BJ has since had changes with his sense of taste, equilibrium and balance, and used to suffer from headaches often.

BJ’s recovery has been nothing short of miraculous. Although he’s had to hang up his hockey skates, he is now competing in new arenas – running marathons and competing in Ironman triathlons!

One late night after watching the "Team Hoyt" story everything finally changed for the best in BJ.  BJ was inspired by the father and son team; Dick and Rick Hoyt.  He awoke the next morning and registered for his first marathon which took place on February 25, 2007.  From that day BJ became inspired and motivated again!

Since that first marathon in 2007, BJ has competed in over 125 road races including 16 marathons, 5 ironman triathlons, and running in 3 Boston Marathons as a member of Team Hoyt!

BJ does events like these to inspire others and give them confidence to achieve things they never thought they could.  BJ knows that things could have had a much worse ending, but with what he is left with he is grateful every day.
